Abstract
In addition to regulating serum calcium and stimulating bone resorption, parathyroid hormone (PTH) is known to stimulate bone formation under certain conditions. The mechanisms behind this counterintuitive anabolic action are largely unknown. We have set out to identify PTH-regulated genes that might be responsible for each of these contrasting effects of the hormone.
