Ultraviolet Radiation-stimulated Efflux of 86-Rubidium from Cultured Tobacco Cells.

L A Wright1, T M Murphy.

Abstract

Ultraviolet (254 nm) radiation stimulated the efflux of (86)Rb(+) from liquid-cultured tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) cells; it did not stimulate the movement of mannitol or 2-deoxyglucose. These results indicate that the efflux of (86)Rb(+) is not to a generalized disruption of membrane structure.
