Abstract
The Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee released hand hygiene guidelines recommending that hospitals educate personnel to increase compliance with hand hygiene. However, few educational tools are available to assist hospitals in this effort. Eight hospitals were recruited to implement hand hygiene educational tools. Key informant interviews were conducted with infection control professionals (ICPs) at 5 participating hospitals. Lack of personnel time was the primary barrier to implementing the educational tools. Multimodal, prepackaged educational tools are needed to decrease barriers and facilitate implementation of interventions locally by ICPs.Entities:
