[Basic concepts in survival analysis].

Pere Rebasa1.

Abstract

The present article aims to introduce and explain basic concepts in survival analysis. Most survival analyses use terms such as Kaplan-Meyer, logrank, and censored times, among others. We discuss the background to these terms and their interpretation. We discuss how to produce and interpret survival curves and how to compare them. Finally, we explain some conditions that should be borne in mind when performing a survival analysis.
