Abstract
Cerebrovascular reserve reflects the capacity of the brain to maintain adequate blood flow in the face of decreased perfusion pressure. Perfusion imaging, combined with a physiologic or pharmacologic challenge, is a direct method of measuring cerebrovascular reserve. The authors discuss the strengths and drawbacks of each of the methods of cerebrovascular reserve assessment. They review the applications of cerebrovascular reserve testing, particularly in the assessment of stroke risk in the setting of chronic stenosis or occlusion of vessels in the head and neck.Entities:
