Abstract
The increased number of children and adolescents diagnosed with type 2 diabetes presents new challenges to pediatricians, nurses, and dietitians. Treatment with medications and lifestyle changes is similar to that for adults with type 2 diabetes, but must be developmentally appropriate for children and adolescents. Registered dieticians must apply knowledge from treatment for overweight children and adolescents without diabetes with treatment for adults with type 2 diabetes to provide effective nutrition therapy for this population.Entities:
