Abstract
Upregulation of the expression of the LDL receptor (LDLR) gene does not always lead to an increase in the LDLR protein. While the mRNA expression of the LDLR and the newly studied proprotein convertase PCSK9 are coordinately upregulated in absence of sterols, the latter proteinase apparently enhances the degradation of the LDLR protein.Entities:
