Abstract
PCR fingerprinting was used to type 177 yeast isolates obtained from two medical institutions. Candida albicans was the predominant species found, followed by C. tropicalis, C. glabrata, C. parapsilosis, C. guilliermondii, and C. krusei, which accounted for over 20% of the strains isolated. This survey represents the first study of molecular epidemiology of candidiasis in Portugal.Entities:
