Abstract
Controversy has surrounded the differentiation of Trypanosoma brucei gambiense from T. b. rhodesiense (causative agents of Gambian and Rhodesian sleeping sickness, respectively) almost from the moment they were named. In the light of recent findings from biochemical and immunological characterization studies, Wendy Gibson reviews the status of T. b. gambiense to see if there is now a consensus concerning its identity.Entities:
