Abstract
In the absence of an internationally agreed classification of haemorrhoids, evaluation of the ever increasing number of therapeutic options available is impossible. A new classification is proposed which relates symptoms to our knowledge of haemorrhoidal development, the use of which should provide a more accurate way of comparing treatments and in the evaluation of new techniques. The evidence for such a classification is presented in detail.Entities:
