Abstract
A young male patient of Turkish origin developed a syncope after the consumption of so-called "pontic honey" from the black sea coast. Further symptoms were sinus bradycardia, hypotension and gastrointestinal problems. Intoxication caused by grayanotoxins was presumed. Complete recovery occurred within a few hours under symptomatic therapy. Intoxication due to grayanotoxins from "pontic" honey are rare in Western Europe and should be taken into consideration in patients with unexplained bradycardia and a travel history to countries of the black sea coast.Entities:
