Abstract
The type 1 insulin-like growth factor receptor (IGF-1R) plays an important role in the establishment and maintenance of the transformed phenotype. It also has a strong antiapoptotic activity and has a significant influence on the control of cell and body size. Downregulation of the IGF-1R leads to massive apoptosis of cancer cells.
