Abstract
Human transferrin was labeled with 59Fe at one of its two metal-binding sites (designated A) at pH 6.0. 55Fe was then added to site B at pH 7.5. Both isotopes of iron were taken up in equal proportions by human reticulocytes. These experiments do not support the hypothesis that each binding site of transferrin has a different physiologic function.Entities:
