Abstract
We utilized the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) to detect the presence of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) messenger RNA in rat brain, ovary and kidney. The nucleotide sequence of the RT-PCR product revealed a novel 3' untranslated (UT) sequence in the rat basic FGF mRNA. In this sequence, as in the 3' UT regions of many growth regulatory genes, there is a high degree of conservation of A+T rich motifs which have been shown to play a major role in mRNA stability.Entities:
