Abstract
In an effort to make an inventory of the tRNA genes of Mycoplasma pneumoniae, a DNA fragment was found to contain a sequence that can be folded into a hairpin structure very similar to that of the 4.5S RNA of Escherichia coli. Recombinant plasmids carrying this region were able to complement E. coli strains that were deficient in 4.5S RNA. S1 mapping showed that the mature transcript is only 79 nucleotides long.Entities:
