[Architectonic and diagnostic significance of hair cortex and medulla].

O F Chernova1.

Abstract

Architectonic of hair and spine was studied in 345 mammalian species using scanning electron microscopy. A consistent terminology and system of hair and spine cortex is proposed. The significance of the cortex and medulla structural patterns for taxon identification and adaptation to environmental conditions are discussed.
