Indications and technique of the orthotopic neobladder in women.

John P Stein1, David A Ginsberg, Donald G Skinner.

Abstract

Radical cystectomy remains the primary form of therapy for high-grade, invasive bladder cancer. Orthotopic substitution has become the ideal form of urinary diversion in appropriately selected women. Good functional results have been seen with intermediate follow-up in these women. Proper patient selection and surgical technique are critical to optimize the outcome in this group of patients.
