Abstract
FtsK, which links chromosome segregation and cell division in E. coli, has now been shown to be an ATP-dependent DNA translocase. It also activates XerCD-dependent recombination, converting chromosome dimers into monomers, by switching the order of strand cleavage by the recombinase subunits.Entities:
