Abstract
Chronic fetal hypoxia in fetal growth restriction due to impaired placentation is associated with centralization of blood flow to the vital organs, such as brain, heart and adrenal glands, in order to maintain oxygenation. There is a correlation between fetal hypoxemia and low impedance to blood flow in the middle cerebral artery. However, there is no association between abnormal flow velocity waveforms and fetal distress in an unselected population, and this reported case also suggests that Doppler ultrasound is of no value in identifying acute fetal distress.Entities:
