Abstract
In normal man synthetic somatostatin inhibits the growth hormone response to intravenous administration of endotoxin (Piromen), but exerts no influence on cortisol plasma levels. Endotoxin-induced leukocytosis in blood is significantly reduced by somatostatin. Plasma levels of insulin and the blood sugar in man receiving endotoxin are firstly reduced in a significant manner and then increasing to normal values during somatostatin infusion.Entities:
