An open and flexible framework for computer aided surgical training.

A Larsson1.

Abstract

During the past year we have developed a new surgical skills training application called LapSim. We intend to describe the design, architecture and concepts of the software framework we have developed concurrently with the application. The framework is based on the concept of a classroom with students and teachers. Students, courses and results are stored in a centralized database and can be retrieved for review or modification. The students can also monitor their progress relative to other students or experts.
