Abstract
5-aminoacridine hydrochloride (0.4 percent in 50 percent aqueous ethanol) proved to be a useful fixative for the preservation of human blood basophils pretreated with methanol-formaldehyde (9:1 V/V). Leaching of the water-soluble basophil granules or other artificial cell alterations common to fixatives in current use were not observed. The organic compound used did not induce any chemographic artifacts in nuclear tracers, in contrast to most of the other fixatives hitherto applied. 5-aminoacridine hydrochloride is therefore particularly suitable for autoradiography of the human blood basophils.Entities:
