Abstract
Masking and entrainment are two different processes that result in rhythms in physiology and behavior. Considering its functional importance, lamentably little study has been devoted to masking compared to that lavished on entrainment. This paper discusses the origin and definition of terminology (positive and negative masking, paradoxical masking) and methods of quantifying masking. How masking is scored can greatly influence the interpretation of results.Mesh:
