Abstract
Mechanisms of the secondary injuries associated with traumatic brain injury, and their long-term effects on behavior and on the possible development of neurodegenerative disease, represent major opportunities to understand the brain's efforts at self-repair. A multiplicity of endogenous factors and genetic predispositions interact to affect outcomes. More pragmatically, the elucidation of such mechanisms offer multiple opportunities to intervene therapeutically.Entities:
