Abstract
Distention media are essential in operative hysteroscopy to ensure good visualization within the uterine cavity. Carbon dioxide, dextran-70, glycine, sorbitol, mannitol, saline, and Ringer's lactate solution have all been used, but are associated with difficulties that prevent their use with instruments that achieve appropriate current densities.
