Abstract
Extraocular polymyositis is a rare orbital disease in dogs and has to our knowledge never been described in other domestic animals. Typically, dogs are presented with a bilateral exophthalmos due to inflammatory swelling of the extraocular muscles, similar to the endocrine ophthalmopathy (Graves' disease) in man. The latter disease, however, has never been documented in animals. In this case report, clinical signs, differential diagnoses, diagnostic work-up and successful immunosuppressive therapy are described.Entities:
