Bimolecular quenching of excitons and fluorescence in the photosynthetic unit.

C E Swenberg, N E Geacintov, M Pope.

Abstract

The recent results of Campillo et al. and Mauzerall on the quenching of the fluorescence of chlorophyll a in Chlorella pyrenoidosa as a function of the intensity of the laser excitation pulses are rationalized by applying a model invoking singlet-singlet exciton annihilation.
