The genetics of melanoma: the UK experience.

J A Newton Bishop1, M Harland, D T Bishop.

Abstract

Most cancers have rare familial forms and cutaneous melanoma is no exception. The studies carried out on the genetics of these rare types are of great importance because the knowledge gained from them is essential in the counselling of patients. Also of great importance is the information it provides regarding the basic aetiology of melanoma.
