Abstract
A patient receiving intravenous alcohol for premature labor developed mild aspiration pneumonia. In the course of her evaluation it was noted that she also had severe lactic acidosis. The patient responded well to hydration and intravenous sodium bicarbonate. Lactic acidosis represents a previously unrecognized danger of intravenous alcohol therapy.Entities:
