Abstract
In a patient with pulmonary emboli, transesophageal echocardiography showed a thrombus straddling the foramen ovale (impending paradoxical embolism). Proximal pulmonary emboli were visualized by spiral computed tomography and subsequent surgical treatment, consisting of removal of intracardiac clot, closure of the open foramen ovale and pulmonary embolectomy, was successful.Entities:
