Abstract
Depression is a frequent problem in women who are candidates for receiving estrogen replacement therapy during perimenopause and menopause. However, there are no guidelines on how to optimize antidepressant administration with estrogen, especially in women insufficiently responsive to antidepressants. Neurobiological actions of estrogen as well as clinical observations of estrogen effects on mood suggest that more research is needed to help guide the use of estrogen concomitantly with antidepressants.Entities:
