Abstract
Cellular microbiology is a newly developing science born from the realization that many different aspects of eukaryotic cell biology are targeted by microbial virulence mechanisms. One example of this is the emerging evidence that several bacteria can interfere, directly or indirectly, with the eukaryotic cell cycle. This article discusses the cell-cycle effects of bacterially generated molecules, their role in virulence and their possible therapeutic potential.Mesh:
