Abstract
The past year has seen significant advances in our understanding of the role played by the primary visual cortex (V1) in stereoscopic vision. Recently, the mechanism by which complex cells in V1 respond to random-dot stereograms has been characterized; it appears that their response properties greatly reduce the complexity of one of the critical links for stereopsis, the correspondence problem.Mesh:
