Abstract
The taxonomic positions of Vibrio marinus and 11 related natural isolates were examined. Their phylogenetic positions on the basis of almost complete 16S rRNA sequences were determined by maximum likelihood, maximum parsimony and neighbor-joining analyses. V. marinus and the 11 isolates fell into a single cluster that was clearly distinct from other genera. There is now strong evidence that V. marinus should be reclassified as Moritella marina gen. nov., comb. nov.Entities:
