Abstract
Combined replacement of the aortic and mitral values is a relatively common operation. Occasionally it is feasible to replace the mitral value through the aortic root. This remarkable approach eliminates the need for a second atrial incision, and in reoperation it avoids extensive dissection and release of adhesions. Injury to the heart is minimized and the incidence of perioperative bleeding is reduced. The exposure is excellent and the operation is performed safely and expeditiously.Entities:
