[Coronary heart disease as inflammatory disease of the vascular bed? Etiology, sequela or misconception?].

B Maisch.

Abstract

In this editorial the traditional risk factors are contrasted with more recent modifications of the response to injury theory including the modified LDL-response to injury and the immunological response to injury theories. This issue of "Herz" is devoted to the missing points in the classic risk factor concepts and revisits them as well as the infectious theory with Chlamydia pneumoniae, cytomegalovirus and helicobacter pylori as well as the autoreactivity hypothesis.
