Abstract
Together with the progress of surgical technique there is the continued development of pre- and postoperative care of patients. There are two fields for the use of BSD (balanced synthetic diet): I. Preoperative: a) Full caloric nutrition b) Intestines free from waste matter and lowering of bacterial content. II. Postoperative: Interruption of the vicious circle of diminished offer of nutrition, postoperative katabolism, which increases the need for amino-acids and so interferes with the process of wound-healing and the protection against infection.Entities:
