Abstract
The abductor pollicis brevis muscle is the most significant of the thenar intrinsics with respect to providing palmar abduction and pronation of the thumb. While limited, even clinically acceptable, function may be exhibited in its absence, the abductor pollicis brevis is required for full opposition (thumb tip to base of small finger).Mesh:
