Abstract
A database of ophthalmic anthropometry is established which is useful for the design of spectacles for southeast Asian people. Statistical analysis reveals significant variations in the facial dimensions between male and female subjects. Results of the study are given separately for each sex and for the combined population. Hong Kong Chinese are found to have larger frontal angles, bigger angles of splay, and a less prominent bridge in the nose. Spectacle frames should be designed according to the targeted gender population, and to accommodate the characteristics of Asian faces.Entities:
