Abstract
The view that antibody-mediated protection is unimportant against intracellular pathogens is not supported by the literature. In fact, there is convincing evidence that antibody can protect against many important intracellular pathogens. The challenge now is to identify antigens that elicit protective antibodies, use them in vaccine design and understand how humoral and cellular immune mechanisms cooperate.Mesh:
