Abstract

This special issue of the International Journal of Biochemistry and Cell Biology contains a series of review articles and original papers dealing with the topic of transcription factors. The purpose of this introductory article is to provide an overview of these factors, their mechanism of action, their regulation and the manner in which alterations in them can result in disease.
