Abstract
It has been shown that during injection of 17 to 20 ml local anesthetics combined with a corticosteroid via the hiatus canalis sacralis that the solution is distributed up to the level of the thoraco-lumbar junction. The indication for therapeutical peridural injection are radicular symptoms as a result of disc herniation, foraminal stenosis as well as neurogenic claudicatio. Contraindications are anticoagulation, local infection as well as suspicion of systemic inflammatory disease of the peripheral nervous system. With proper technique and adequate desinfection, complications and side effects are very rare.Entities:
