Pediatric infection with the human immunodeficiency virus.

R S Asher1, J McDowell, G Acs, G Belanger.

Abstract

While rates of infection with the HIV virus are decreasing, the number of children infected continues to increase. There are multiple implications for the practicing pediatric dentist. Many of these children will seek or be referred by other health care providers for treatment of resulting oral pathology. Dentists must be prepared to provide dental services to the HIV-infected child.
