Abstract
Elevated pretreatment plasma free homovanillic acid (HVA) predicted acute response to neuroleptic treatment in patients with manic psychosis. These findings suggest that plasma HVA may be a useful predictor of a successful short-term response in manic as well as schizophrenic psychoses, and that elevated pre-synaptic dopaminergic release may play a role in more than one group of psychotic disorders.Entities:
