Infected spontaneous chylothorax.

S Natrajan1, O Hadeli, S F Quan.

Abstract

Infection of a chylothorax is thought not to occur because chyle is inherently bacteriostatic. We report a case of an infected chylothorax occurring in an immunocompromised patient with pneumonia. To our knowledge, this is the first description of such a case.
