Abstract
Unilateral presentation of pulmonary edema, though well known to occur, is an uncommon entity. Previous reviews of this subject have discussed the different etiologies, which include rapid reexpansion of collapsed lung, down lung syndrome (gravitational edema), systemic-to-pulmonary arterial shunts, heart failure, compression or occlusion of pulmonary vasculatures, obstruction of a bronchus and an acute manifestation of neuropulmonary reaction (neurogenic pulmonary edema). Occurrence of this complication during surgery, however, is even rarer. We report 2 cases of unilateral pulmonary edema occurring during general anesthesia for elective surgery.Entities:
