Abstract
A bovine yeast artificial chromosome (YAC) clone containing the superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) gene was used as a template for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification using a conserved short interspersed nuclear element (SINE) primer. Two highly polymorphic microsatellites with nine and eight alleles were isolated and mapped by linkage analysis to the centromeric region of BTA1. These microsatellites will be used in the construction of a genetic and physical map of the SOD1 region towards positional cloning of the polled gene.Entities:
