Abstract
There seem to be no gender-specific qualifications for surgery, yet the traditional role model keeps the number of women small. The patriarchal character of surgery has hardly changed whereas social organization, the role of men and women and the division of labor inside the family have all changed. This has opened surgery up for women during the last few decades to a certain degree.Entities:
