Abstract
The selection of antibodies from combinatorial libraries displayed on the surface of filamentous phage has become an important methodology for the generation of reagent, diagnostic, and therapeutic molecules and for the study of natural immune responses. Using this technique, antibody genes have been cloned from multiple species or expressed directly from large man-made repertoires of antibody-encoding genes. Recent studies demonstrate that the technique allows for the in vitro evolution of antibodies to create molecules whose affinity for antigen exceeds that observed in nature.Entities:
