Abstract
Perioperative management of the acute trauma patient requires constant surveillance for the unexpected. We describe a case of upper extremity compartment syndrome resulting from pressurized infusion of crystalloid through an intravenous catheter placed in the emergency ward. Early recognition, diagnosis, and intervention with surgical fasciotomy averted potential complications and morbidity.Entities:
